My guess is that your friend is partially correct. If you buy a digital book through BN on your Nook - that alone will not allow you to also (perhaps in the future) also download that to a Kindle. The reverse is also true. Again, I can't speak specifically about the Nook because I don’t have one, but one thing I like about the Amazon Kindle software/digital book store is that they make an app for many other digital devices. All of the books I once used on my kindle I can now read on my droid, iphone, ipad and many others.
